Our screens are made from extruded aluminum components and fiberglass or polyester mesh, which makes them very durable. In fact, we’re so proud of their quality that we offer an industry-leading limited lifetime warranty to give you complete peace of mind. If they’re well looked after and serviced regularly, our screens will last many years.
It depends on which material you choose: mesh, fabric, or clear vinyl. Whereas the vinyl is fairly water-resistant, fabrics and meshes with open weaves allow greater airflow and a tighter weave offers more protection.
If the wind is very strong, then the mesh may produce a “sailing” effect or escape its tracks. This can be easily rectified when the wind has dropped. For peace of mind, retracting the screens in very strong winds is always wise.
This depends on how many screens you order and what type, but most installations are completed within one day. A single door screen can usually be installed in under an hour. On the other hand, there are a number of installation options for our motorized screens, including fully recessed and surface-mounted so the installation time will vary by project.
That said, you will need to schedule your installation with your authorized Phantom expert, who will consider any manufacturing lead times when ordering your screens.
It all depends on what type of screen you’re looking for: size, color, mesh, handle, etc. If you tell your local Phantom pro what you’re looking for, they can provide you with more pricing information.

Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us. If you accidentally left the slider locked and closed the screen behind you, and you don’t have anyone to let you back in, there’s a simple solution:
1. Push in the mesh to give it some slack
2. Use the slack to allow you to reach in and move the slider up (to unlock it)
3. Unlatch and open the screen! Don’t forget to push the slider up so it doesn’t happen again.

The maintenance is minimal. Because the screens are retracted when not in use, they stay in their housings during wet and cold weather.
We recommend cleaning the screens once or twice a season to eliminate any small dust particles in the mesh: upon first use after winter is over, and at the end of the busy summer season. Use mild detergent and water to wipe them down gently.
Finally, regularly lubricating the tracks with Phantom’s greaseless silicone spray will ensure that the screen operates smoothly. (Note that this is a special type of dry silicone specifically intended for the screen, and using any other type of lubricant (e.g. WD40) could damage your screen.)

Accidents happen! If it’s a gentle bump, chances are your screen will be perfectly fine. Our screens are built with enough flexibility in the mesh to prevent damage. However, if there’s more force in action, the mesh may pull away from the housing or track.
If this happens, call your local Phantom expert, who will be able to replace the mesh and service the screen to ensure it runs smoothly again.

If you have a retractable door, window, or motorized screen with mesh:
Regularly clean the tracks of dirt and debris using a vacuum or a rag, and lubricate them with Phantom’s greaseless silicone spray.
Once or twice a season, clean the mesh and casing with water, mild detergent, and a soft brush—never use harsh chemicals or a pressure washer
If you have a motorized screen with vinyl:
Never wash the vinyl with a pressure washer. Instead, hose it down to remove salt or grit. Then wash it with a gentle soap using a soft cloth.
Remember that grit or particles will scratch the vinyl and cloud it.
Never use Rain-X, Pledge, or Plexus on your vinyl, they cause hazing and discoloration.
We recommend using high-grade polishes like IMAR Strataglass™ Polish or Collinite Insulator Wax to restore your vinyl’s sheen.
