About the home

When Rosemarie Rosetti was paralyzed from the waist down in 1998, she and her husband decided to build a custom, wheelchair accessible home. The Columbus Ohio house would be serve as both a showcase and laboratory for Universal Design products and an office for Rosetti and her husband.

Rosetti needed door screens with easy access for her wheelchair that would also keep out unwanted insects and harsh sunlight. Phantom’s retractable screens were selected for their versatility and ability to blend with the universal design elements of the home. Four of Phantom’s motorized screens were also added to enclose their back porch. The screens block out unwanted UV rays and insects while keeping their outdoor dining area cooler during hot summer days.

Enjoy the breeze without the bugs

The retractable screens feature Phifer 18/14 insect mesh which allows the owners to enjoy the breeze without having to worry about letting in the bugs.

Accessibility

Traditional door screens would have hindered getting around in a wheelchair. The integrated latch and release handle on Phantom’s retractable door screens is durable and easy to use.

Complements any doorway

“While Mark and I enjoy outdoor living including dining and cooking outdoors, we don’t enjoy being bitten by mosquitoes. Phantom’s Executive motorized screens were the perfect product for our porch. When the screens are lowered, we shield out the bugs and shade the porch.”
– Rosemarie Rossetti, Ph.D.
